Description
Overview: This position will serve as an assistant to the Chief Financial Officer, performing various accounting and internal audit tasks in the Business Office of a K-12 School. The School is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Grant School, utilizes fund accounting, and is subject to annual A133 Single Audit.

Job Responsibilities:
Performs assistant and/or technician work requiring substantial knowledge of accounting principles and best practices, administrative support, and compliance with regulatory and procedural guidelines. Performs work supporting accounting, budget, finance, and school administrative functions – including processing general ledger, accounts payable, and payroll related transactions, reviewing transactions for accuracy and compliance with GAAP, federal and grant guidelines related to school finance and federal programs.

Duties will include receiving shipments and assisting in maintaining the School’s property inventory – both capitalized and non-capitalized accountable items.

Assist as needed with Payroll and Accounts Payable processing and internal review for compliance with internal controls and GAAP.
Requirements
Minimum Skills Required:
> Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting Preferred (will consider Associate’s Degree and related experience, ie bookkeeper, budget clerk, purchasing clerk or related functions)
> Experience with General Ledger Entries, Accounts Payable and Payroll processing
> Proficiency with computerized accounting software and Microsoft excel
> Experience with account reconciliation tasks
> Ability to work in a team, in a busy, distracting environment
> Ability to work accurately and methodically with numbers.

Dishchii’bikoh Community School is a Grant school funded by the United States Bureau of Indian Education, located in the community of Cibecue on the White Mountain Apache Reservation. The School provides shuttle transportation to and from Show Low and Whiteriver Arizona and there is limited staff housing available on campus for non-tribal members.

Successful applicants must be able to pass a federal and local criminal background check pursuant to the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act (25 CFR 34). The School is a drug, tobacco and alcohol free campus. Periodic drug testing is mandatory for all employees.
